Sophisticated Hydraulic Machines

Hydraulic machines, by a very basic definition, are the machines which use the power of fluid to operate. The fluid used by these machines is generally known as the hydraulic fluid. This fluid is circulated throughout the machine by means of various tubes and hoes. These tubes are like the veins of these massive machines through which the life blood of these machines, i.e., the hydraulic fluid flows to several hydraulic motors and hydraulic cylinders. The flow of the fluid is regulated by various control valves, present in the machine. The hydraulic machines are known for their efficient working and supreme power.

The hydraulic technology came into being only in the year 1827, when a hydraulic turbine, for practical purpose, was created in France, by
Fourneyron. Today, there are a large number of hydraulic machines of various types present in the world. The most common type of hydraulic machine is the excavator, which can be commonly seen on any construction site. However, numerous other types of hydraulic machines, intended for domestic and commercial use, are also in action these days. Few of the these machines are as mentioned under:

(1) Hydraulic Hand Pump: This equipment is powered by mechanical energy sources as well as gears, pistons, vanes and other such devices used for pressurizing the fluid. It acts as a motor and can be used in various applications requiring low and high pressure testing. It is also used in oilfields to perform various jobs.

(2) Hydraulic Exercise Equipment: These machines are like normal exercising machines, as far as appearance is concerned. But, they differ a lot in performance and durability from the conventional machines. They are based on the hydraulic principles, hence efficient and reliable. They can be customized according to individual requirements. Jogging squares and aerobic steps are the common types of hydraulic exercise equipment.

(3) Hydraulic Tensile Tester: Tensile tester is an equipment meant for testing the tensile strength of various stuffs. They are primarily used in industries. The hydraulic tensile tester is used in various industries for minimal tensile strength testing.

(4) Hydraulic Cylinder: Cylinder is a very significant hydraulic equipment. It coverts fluid power into a mechanical force. It works as an actuator for converting the fluid power into an output force which works in a linear direction. These cylinders are used in various types of engineering equipment like earth moving, mining, construction, railways and so on. Also, there are various types of hydraulic cylinders like single acting, double acting, telescoping, diaphragm, bellows and so.

Of course, there are a lot more types of hydraulic equipment besides those mentioned above. But, it is not feasible to list each and every one of them here. That's why the most relevant items have been explained. Anyway, nowadays hydraulic machines are used more than any other type of machine in almost all engineering works. They are a perfect creation of science. Their presence is indispensable for the modern world. No doubt, their unique qualities of being efficient and powerful have provided them with the supremacy they enjoy.
